WHAT ARE damon BRACES?

These braces use a self-ligating system, which is a sliding mechanism that makes the movement of teeth more gradual and natural. Due to their design, rubber bands are not required to guide any changes. This provides less discomfort and makes them easier to clean, due to the less bulky brackets. These types of braces not only align your teeth quicker and with more comfort, they also enhance your facial aesthetics.

WHAT ARE damon BRACES?

These braces are an invisible type of brace that are concealed by sitting on the back of your teeth. So when you smile, no-one will see your braces. They work very similarly to traditional braces – they use brackets, wires and sometimes rubber bands. Lingual means “toward the tongue” meaning that these braces will only be seen if you open your mouth extra wide.

HOW DO damon BRACES WORK?

Because the damon system uses a self-ligating system, the wires hold in place meaning that rubber bands aren’t needed. The sliding mechanism within These braces moves your teeth naturally and much more gently. As a result, most patients will feel less discomfort than they would experience with traditional metal braces. These braces have a memory system that slowly moves teeth with pressure, meaning that you’ll need to visit less for brace adjustments.

damon vs metal braces

The main difference between the two is the comfort level and convenience. Because Damon braces are self-ligating, they don’t need to be adjusted as often. Whereas with traditional braces, they rely on rubber bands to hold the wire in the bracket. This means that they need to be consistently adjusted to continue guiding the teeth into alignment. Traditional braces are also much more bulky and so therefore, much more noticeable.
