Invisalign: Myths Busted – Separating Fact From Fiction

Published 03/18/2023

We receive a lot of questions from patients in Dubai about the availability of dental implants, specifically those of the All-On variety. There are many benefits to All-On dental implants. In this blog, we will strive to answer your most common questions when it comes to the use of this technology for teeth restoration and replacement.

What Are Dental Implants?

If you have made it here, it is likely that you already know about dental implants in Dubai. However, if this concept is new to you, let’s do a quick review. A dental implant is essentially a process for surgically replacing a lost tooth with the replica of a tooth.

When you lose one or more teeth, it can cause many problems. You may experience problems with chewing or speech. You can also experience some pain. A dental implant will help reduce the likelihood of experiencing these problems by restoring your natural bite.

Dental implants typically require surgically implanting a support in your jaw. This support is then used to secure the new tooth.

What Are All-On Implants?

When a person comes to us seeking a dental implant in Dubai, it is often for the case of just one missing or damaged tooth. In these cases, the person often receives an implant for just one replacement tooth. However, what happens if a person needs many – or all – of their teeth replaced?

The answer for this is typically something known as All-On implants. All-On implants are a specific type of implant that allows for an entire arch of teeth to be replaced with fewer implants than using one per tooth.

In other words, All On implants are used to replace your entire maxillary arch (upper teeth), mandibular arch (lower teeth), or both of your arches. This process was first created in 1998 by a dentist in Portugal.

All-On-4 Dental Implants in Dubai

One of the most popular types of complete arch dental implants in Dubai and around the world is the All-on-4 model. All-on-4 model occurs when an entire arch of teeth is secured to just four screws. Let’s take a quick look at how this process works for patients.

After a consultation, the first step of the All-On-4 process involves securing four implants to either your upper or lower jaw. These implants are created from titanium, which makes them strong and enhances their ability to fuse to bone more easily.

Any remaining teeth on the arch are pulled prior to making the incisions and placing the implants. You will be sedated for this procedure. Once the four implants have been placed, a plate of temporary dentures are secured to the four implants.

Once this part of the procedure is over, you will enter a recovery period while the bone in your jaw fuses with the implants. During this period, you will follow a special diet that focuses on soft foods. Once you are fully healed, you will return for the next step. During this step, your temporary plate of teeth will be removed, and your dentist will create a mold. This mold will be used to design your final prosthesis.

The final step simply involves removing the temporary teeth and replacing them with the final prosthesis. Once this is done, you will have an entire set of implants that are customized to your specific bite, all secured to only four screws.

Another option when it comes to dental implants in Dubai is All-On-6 dental implants. All On 6 implants differ from the All-On-4 version in that they use additional two implants to secure the prosthesis. Some people prefer this because the extra implants provide additional strength. Both are great options if you are seeking dental implants in Dubai. We are always happy to chat with you to answer questions and help you determine which is best for your needs.

Advantages of All-On Dental Implants

There are several advantages to choosing to have All-On implants. Let’s look at the major benefits for patients.

No Dietary Restrictions

One of the favorite benefits of our Dubai dental implant patients is that All-On implants do not require any specific dietary restrictions. While you do have to eat a special diet during the initial healing process, you will eventually be able to eat anything you want. This is because implants are strong and durable as opposed to dentures.

Self-Confidence

We all want to put forth our best appearance. This is one reason why many people choose dental implants in Dubai. In addition to being very functional, they look just like your real teeth. In fact, other people won’t even be able to notice that the implants aren’t your natural teeth. For many people, this can bring about a boost of confidence.

They are Durable

A major advantage of dental implants is their longevity. This is due to their strength and the system supporting them. While a pair of dentures will only last a maximum of ten years, your dental implants will likely last a lifetime. Their durability also makes them easy to care for when it comes to brushing and flossing.

Prevent Disease

Getting a set of dental implants has been shown to mimic the function of your real teeth while helping prevent against different conditions such as periodontal disease. Preventing periodontal disease is important as this condition can increase your risk of other things such as cardiovascular disease.

High Success Rate

One of the biggest benefits of choosing All-On dental implants is the high success rate. It is very rare that the implants do not fuse with your bone. In fact, All-On dental implants have a success rate of approximately 98%. This is an excellent rate when it comes to success for dental implants, coming in above the success rate of other types of implant options.

Disadvantages of All-On Dental Implants

While there are certainly many benefits to All-On implants, there are some drawbacks to the process as well. It is important for patients to carefully consider both advantages and disadvantages in making their decision.

Initial Discomfort

The process of getting All-On implants will create a bit of discomfort for patients in the days immediately following the first procedure. While your dentist will help guide you through reducing this, it can be a frustrating part of the process.

Bone Density Needed

All-On implants are not a great choice for everyone. For example, successful implants require having a minimum amount of bone density in your jaw. This is because your jaw serves as the support for the implants. If you have significant bone loss, you may not be able to receive implants.

Temporary Prosthesis Can Feel a Bit Awkward

Many patients report that their bite with the temporary prosthesis worn while you heal can feel awkward. While this is not a major problem, it is something that people tend to notice. The final prothesis tends to feel much better, although some patients report taking a few weeks until it feels like their original teeth.
